Linear Acoustic was the first Telos Alliance brand to provide a television product that utilizes AoIP and continues to lead the industry toward high-quality yet compliant DTV audio. Products include the AERO-series of real-time processors, UPMAX® upmixing and downmixing solutions, LKFS metering solutions such as the LQ-1000 Loudness Quality Monitor, and signal analysis tools like the MT2000 Multichannel Bitstream Analyzer.
ARC Next Generation Television Loudness Processor
The Linear Acoustic ARC is a budget-friendly, easy-to-use, 2-channel television processor specifically designed for regions and applications that do not require support for multi-channel, coded audio, but where no-compromise audio quality is valued. Until now, broadcasters looking for a straightforward, stereo, television processor had to make some difficult compromises. Less costly solutions were budget-friendly, but the savings came at the expense of audio quality. Products that delivered excellent audio performance also included features such as support for multichannel, coded audio and audience measurement watermarking that simply aren’t required in many regions – and with a price tag that put them out of reach to smaller broadcasters. Linear Acoustic ARC eliminates that compromise by offering a 1RU DTV audio processor for two independent PCM stereo or mono program sources that deliver the viewer-pleasing audio upon which Linear Acoustic has built its reputation.
Linear Acoustic® AERO.2000 is a 2RU loudness management platform capable of hosting one or two AEROMAX® processing instances (at least one is required) providing real-time adaptive wideband and/or multi-band processing including an advanced ITU limiter. Output levels are consistent and compliant without compromising audio quality. Our Hollywood-approved UPMAX®-II upmixing/downmixing algorithm creates engaging 5.1-channel audio from 2-channel sources and provides a downmix that is nearly indistinguishable from the original source. It has a comprehensive TCP/IP Remote which Provides control of overall system settings, processing and coding parameters plus extensive metering of signal presence, processing and coding activity, and audio loudness. System status reports physical I/O details along with the system, power supply and environmental health. The remote application also delivers remote audio, including 5.1 channels, to the user so that signal quality can be auditioned anywhere link bandwidth permits. The built-in HTTP server provides for simple get/set control of all parameters and status.
AERO.100 – DTV Audio Processor
Linear Acoustic® AERO.100 is a 1RU loudness management platform capable of hosting one or two AEROMAX® processing instances (at least one is required) providing real-time adaptive wideband and/or multi-band processing including an advanced ITU limiter. Output levels are consistent and compliant without compromising audio quality. Our Hollywood-approved UPMAX®-II upmixing/downmixing algorithm creates engaging 5.1-channel audio from 2-channel sources and provides a downmix that is nearly indistinguishable from the original source. Available configurations for each instance include AMX5.1 (one 5.1 channel and two 2-channel processing engines), AMX2.0 (three 2-channel processing engines, one with 5.1-channel downmixing) and AMX5x2 (five 2-channel processing engines). Flexible signal routing is provided for main and secondary audio programs plus EAS and local emergency audio insertion.
AERO.10 – Highest Quality Television Audio Processing – Incredible Value
Hybrid dynamic range and loudness control with Advanced ITU Limiter provide set-and-forget compliance and viewer-pleasing quality while included features deliver incredible cost savings.
Handling up to 10 channels of PCM audio via AES, HD/SD-SDI, or analog stereo I/O, the Linear Acoustic® AERO.10 offers all-inclusive audio processing for situations where Dolby® coding, Nielsen® Watermark encoding, and the ability to add a second processing instance are not required. Standard configurations are your choice of either a 5.1+2+2 or 2+2+2 channel configuration; a 2+2+2+2+2 channel configuration is optional. AERO.10 is a fully-featured audio processor supporting up to ten channels of audio and featuring a processing engine identical to those in the AERO.100/1000/2000 products. Tools such as loudness and dynamic range control, upmixing, downmixing, plus ITU and EBU compliant loudness metering and logging make the AERO.10 an extremely powerful solution for nearly any application at an extremely low cost.
AERO.8000 is enterprise-wide audio and loudness management software for high-density applications featuring the trusted AEROMAX® adaptive wideband and multiband, multistage, ITU-compliant, loudness control algorithm. An advanced ITU Limiter (AI) and ITU BS. 1770-3 metering guarantees fast, accurate and measurable compliance with ATSC and EBU R-128 loudness recommended practices while maintaining the highest possible audio quality. Upmixing is provided by the Hollywood-approved UPMAX® II algorithm which delivers engaging 5.1-channel audio from two-channel sources. AutoMAX™ detection and switching between 2.0 and 5.1 surround sources make full time 5.1 surround output easy to achieve with viewer-pleasing results.
LA-5291 Professional Audio Encoder
The Linear Acoustic LA-5291 Professional Audio Encoder allows you to create an exciting and immersive Dolby Atmos® experience via a Dolby Digital Plus JOC bitstream for production workflows, platforms, and delivery streams that do not require Dolby AC-4. The LA-5291 offers decoding, encoding, and transcoding to and from PCM and select Dolby® coded formats for up to 16 audio channels.
While emerging standards such as ATSC 3.0 continue to advance and provide improved immersive audio for OTA broadcast, the amount of cinematic and live content produced in Dolby Atmos continues to grow as well reaching consumers via Blu-ray Disc, satellite, cable, and streaming services. The workflow required to create, transport, and deliver that content to viewers at home can be complex, requiring the ability to work with PCM, Dolby ED2, Dolby E, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Digital Plus JOC formats – tasks for which the LA-5291 was purpose-built.
UPMAX ISC Immersive Soundfield Controller Overview
UPMAX ISC builds upon the Hollywood-approved and industry-trusted line of upmixing products from Linear Acoustic and carries it forward to meet the additional demands introduced by the immersive audio capabilities of Next Generation Audio systems. Employing a completely new upmixing algorithm, UPMAX ISC can upmix 2-channel, 3-channel, 5.1-channel, and 7.1-channel audio to immersive audio formats including 5.1.4 and 7.1.4. Upmixing to legacy formats including 5.1-channel and 7.1-channel audio is also supported, while content presented in native immersive formats is automatically recognized and passed through without processing. Compensating video delay is included to ensure perfect A/V sync regardless of input format or operating mode.
For live events and broadcasts, UPMAX ISC can be inserted on a mix bus or placed at the output of the mixing console in the OB truck at the venue for upmixing sources including music, effects, and legacy content not natively presented in an immersive format.
UPMAX ISC is equally at home in the air chain at the Network Operations Center to ensure all programming – including commercial and interstitial content – is delivered to the viewer as a consistent immersive experience.
LA-5300 Broadcast Audio Processor Overview
Watching TV is a very different experience than a decade ago. We can watch broadcast TV “off the air,” via our local cable provider, or via streaming. Media consumption continues to evolve rapidly with the world increasingly demanding an on-demand lifestyle. Broadcasters—traditionally restricted to the confines of the TV “set”—finally have the options they need to compete when they adopt ATSC 3.0. That’s because in ATSC 3.0, for the first time ever, the broadcast platform is built on the same Internet Protocol backbone as today’s popular streaming media platforms, allowing broadcast to break free from the TV set and push broadcast to mobile, cars, gaming consoles…anywhere. ATSC 3.0 also allows Broadcast to play by Internet rules, bringing together Over-the-Air (broadcast) with Over-the-Top (streaming) content and giving your audience choice and an overall enhanced experience that they have now come to expect from competing media platforms like streaming.
